Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Simple Timer for Forms ("Simple Timer," "we," "us," or "our"), including the Google Forms add-on, the website at simpletimer.co, and all related services (collectively, the "Service").

By installing the add-on, creating an account, or using the Service in any way, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

Simple Timer is a Google Forms™ add-on that allows form owners to add countdown timers, scheduling windows, auto-submission, tab-switch tracking, and other proctoring features to their Google Forms™. Respondents access timed forms through a dedicated timer page hosted at simpletimer.co.

• You must have a Google account to install and use Simple Timer as a form owner.
• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Google account. We are not liable for unauthorized access resulting from your failure to protect your account credentials.
• You agree to provide accurate information and to keep your account information current.
• You may not create accounts for the purpose of abusing the Service, including but not limited to circumventing plan limits.

Simple Timer accesses Google APIs on your behalf. By installing the add-on, you grant us permission to:

• Access your current form (forms.currentonly) — to read the form's ID, title, published URL, email collection setting, and quiz mode status. We can only access the form you are actively editing — never other forms in your account.
• Make external requests (script.external_request) — to send and receive timer configuration and session data between the add-on and our backend at simpletimer.co.
• Access Google Sheets (spreadsheets) — to create and write to a "Timer Data" sheet tab in your form's linked response spreadsheet. If no spreadsheet is linked, one may be created automatically.
• Display UI (script.container.ui) — to show the configuration sidebar in the Google Forms™ editor.

You may revoke these permissions at any time by uninstalling the add-on and visiting myaccount.google.com/permissions.

5.1 Free Plan

The Free plan provides limited access to Simple Timer at no cost. Free plan limits (currently 3 active forms and 100 responses per month) may change at our discretion. We will provide reasonable notice of any changes.

5.2 Paid Plans

• Paid subscriptions (Pro and Organization) are billed monthly or annually through Stripe.
• By subscribing, you authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis until you cancel.
• Prices are listed on our pricing page and are subject to change with 30 days' notice.
• All fees are in US Dollars and are non-refundable except as required by law.

5.3 Organization Plans

The Organization plan provides Pro access to all users on a Google Workspace domain. The domain administrator who subscribes is responsible for payment. If the subscription lapses, all users on the domain revert to the Free plan.

5.4 Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time through the account page or Stripe customer portal. Upon cancellation, you retain paid access until the end of your current billing period.

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws.
• Attempt to circumvent plan limits, rate limits, or access controls by any means, including creating multiple accounts or manipulating API calls.
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service, including overloading our servers or reverse-engineering our systems.
• Use the Service to collect personal information from respondents beyond what is disclosed to them by the form owner.
• Redistribute, sublicense, or resell the Service without our written permission.
• Use the Service in a way that violates Google's API Services User Data Policy.

As a form owner using Simple Timer, you acknowledge and agree that:

• You are the data controller for any personal information collected from respondents through your forms. Simple Timer acts as a data processor on your behalf.
• You are responsible for providing appropriate privacy notices to your respondents about the use of timers, tab-switch tracking, and any other features you enable.
• You must comply with all applicable data protection laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, FERPA) regarding data you collect through timed forms.
• You agree not to use proctoring features (tab-switch tracking) in jurisdictions or contexts where such monitoring is prohibited.

• Simple Timer and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by us and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
• You retain ownership of all content you create using the Service (form configurations, timer data, etc.).
• "Simple Timer," the Simple Timer logo, and simpletimer.co are our trademarks. You may not use them without our prior written consent.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. Timer accuracy depends on the respondent's device and network conditions; we do not guarantee sub-second precision in all environments.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL SIMPLE TIMER, ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, OR AGENTS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, OR EXAM INTEGRITY ISSUES, ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

Our total liability for any claim arising out of these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $100, whichever is greater.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Simple Timer and its affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of a third party.

• We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause, with or without notice.
• You may terminate your account at any time by uninstalling the add-on, cancelling any paid subscription, and requesting account deletion at support@simpletimer.co.
• Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Data may be retained for a reasonable period as described in our Privacy Policy.

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved in the courts of competent jurisdiction.

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by posting the updated Terms on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
